Six Democrats! Six Democrats voted for a far-right loon who has led the brutal torture of suspected terrorists. She is so bad that three Republicans opposed her!
And now I just have to ask this: what do the Democrats stand for anymore?
She wouldn’t have been confirmed if Democratic senators had unanimously opposed her. Moderate Democratic senators had power, and they misused it.
And for those who use the argument that some of these senators should’ve voted for her because are facing tough reelection challenges this year, do you really think that this vote would’ve mattered. I know that Republicans are idiots, but I can’t imagine an attack ad that says: ‘Democrat x didn’t vote for a mass torturer and interrogator, so vote them out this November’.
And this comes to my main point: Moderate Democrats and Blue Dogs would rather serve war hawks, wall street, and defense contractors, rather than make their liberal base or the American people happy.
So call the offices of senators Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitkamp, Joe Donnelly, Bill Nelson, Mark Warner, and Jeanne Shaheen, and ask them what the hell they are doing.
